Symposia

As part of Lux Scientia’s aim to promote international collaboration and the sharing of ideas between our artists, scientists and producers, each festival will host a symposium in each city and a larger final discussion in London in early 2012.

The symposia will take the form of academic conversations between the three Lux Scientia artists Dominik Lejman, Leonardo Meigas and Simeon Nelson, and guest scholars about the aesthetic and scientific aspects of light. It will be curated by cultural programmer and designer Mario Caeiro

The starting point for the conversations will be the relationship between art and science in the conception of the artworks but will go on to explore topics such as whether art can be a conduit of understanding between science and religion and what part art can play in addressing the complex problems of ecosophy (ecological philosophy) and bioethics.
